For me they are the best in comfort and for some they are the worst, I also agree that they are not meant for all and only the few.

I have 16" on mine now and had 18"s on my last bike. I do like really wide beach bars too

Yep, personal taste, but I just can't imagine spending much time on the highway with them. You couldn't get any less aerodynamic than a big set of apes and your feet spread out on highway pegs.

do you guys recommend the 1-1/4" bar or stick with the std 1" - I had burley bars on the 48 and I really liked them because they were narrow in the front - what type bars do you recommend on the softail. Thanks,

The previous owner of my '02 Heritage had installed 4.5 in pullback risers on the stock bars,,, and V&H BSS exhaust.

I love the BSS exhaust. I don't know what baffles are in there but I love the sound.

I had thought about putting mini-apes on the Heritage but when I parked it beside my old Sportster that has them I saw the bars were in almost the same position as my Heritage so I left them alone.

I am going to leave the stock bars on this summer, i need to give the stock bars a chance before i spend a lot of money and time to put on some apes... I am just concerned that apes will sacrifice the ride at 70+ mph (hence why I traded in my sportster)

The slim is getting the v&h bsss installed and dyno'd on the 17th

Look up in the pipes with a flashlight. If it looks like a corkscrew cheese grater, it's their stock baffles. If you can't see all the way up, it's probably a quite baffle.
