Default Real scary ride on the new heritage today

Nobody pulled in front of me, no slick spots, etc. Took the new (650 on clock) out today to my dealer 35 miles away to continue the break in and to get their dyno guys opinion on what exhaust system, tuner etc.

Well, I saw the service department alright, but on a completely different subject. Only the last 5 miles of the journey are highway miles, but I damn near soiled myself when I got up to 65 mph. The bike started wobbling under me and thought I was in real trouble. Limped her into the dealership, told the service guy and he quickly diagnosed the fact that the spokes on my rear wheel were all loose. WTF? Aren't they supposed to check these minor things out before rolling them out the door?

Worse, they can't or wouldn't offer to fix until next week. Said the wheel had to come off completely and get balanced and realigned. Maybe warranty work takes last place when paying customers are lined up on a Saturday.
So, I spent the next hour and a half waiting on my wife to get me and looking at all the other nice rides without spokes!!! Maybe I should have gotten the RKC.
Anyone here have long term woes with the spokes other than *** pains when the occasional flat happens?

I've had laced wheels for years and never an issue. you should ck your spokes all the time. I just take a pencil and go around the rim and listen to the tone if one is loose you will hear the change of tone. Just part of riding a bike.

I'd be raising hell too.

Not only did the Factory screw up, but the Dealer ( who was paid by both you AND the Factory (2% hold back,) to prep the bike,) put you on a dangerous vehicle through nothing but their pure negligence.

Either have it back Monday or have an interview with your local TV station's Trouble Shooter about it. Nothin' like a little negative publicity to get things done quickly.

That is a real bitch. They put you in real danger and then make you wait to get it fixed. Not good at all. I'd find another dealer--quickly. I loved the looks of spoked wire wheels but was concerned with them and blowouts so I got some nice RSD Diesels with Metzler tubeless from Coastalmoto on a good special. Love the looks and tubeless tires. Just got the chrome 16's. Have wire wheels and tires with 300 miles on them now in garage.

Yeah, I'd be pretty pi$$ed off that they didn't catch that before they let you out the door on the bike. Not cool. That being said, I've had a spoke or two come loose. I always check them while I'm cleaning the wheels. I've put enough miles on spoked wheels and can't say I've really ever had any complaints about them (besides keeping them clean). So don't let a bad experience make you nervous about them, just be sure to keep an eye on them, and maybe keep an eye on that HD service department too...

I know I didn't pay dealer prep, nor do I know a single person who has paid dealer prep. They're not prepped anyway. Why pay for what is not done?
