Looking into maybe getting a set of the lowering bolts from ebay. Which one's do i need and what are some opinions on how it will make the ol' Deuce ride??
I'm sure someone will jump in and correct me if I'm wrong but im 99.9% sure the shocks are the same on a Deuce as every other softail. Just look for the ones that fit the 00+ softails and you'll be fine. Feel free to spend as little (or as much) as you want on them.....they're all the same. My $16 bolts came with the same exact printed instructions and parts that my buddy's $89 bolts did. I have my FXST lowered the full 2" and haven't noticed any difference in ride. I set the preload a little higher and have yet to bottom out the suspension.
I couldn't be happier. Just got the regular $16 softail bolts - look for fitment info. Ride's just fine lowered the full 2". With wifee-poo on the back, bottomed out once or twice, but nothing too bad. Save the extra money towards shotguns.
I lowered my Deuce 2" with lowering bolts and haven't had any major issues with the ride. With my wife on the back, it will bottom out a little on sharp bumos
the bolts ars same ones for 00 up softail!!
here is how you do the shock install on your deuce! https://www.hdforums.com/forum/softa...nty-bucks.html
i had mine in for a year!! killer on the lower back, recently installed 422 progressive shocks and mustang solo seat!! super comfy!
the bolts are a cheap easy fix and work fine! just not a great ride
My main concern is the ride quality. I don't want the ride to suffer because the roads around where I'm from are'nt the best. I just thought without the shocks being compressed it would'nt ride any different, just a little lower.

That's my belief. It's a small change down where the shocks are and I can't see it doing anything other than bottoming out sooner. You can play with the preload, though that makes it a bit firmer ride.
Shotguns seem to be the answer to all our concerns, though. Just a bucket load of cash is all...
