Thx everyone. Sounds like great advice. Now to figure out what all this will cost.

$1200 if you do the work yourself, based upon what you have mentioned. If you have your bike dyno'd, or have your computer modded (I think we are talking primarily timing on your bike) then add 300+. Read the threads on the cam chain followers here and in the AIM forum.

Don't cut corners and if you're lucky, you will get 130k out of that engine according to testimonials I have seen.

Personally, unless you have a really strong feeling about this bike, I wouldn't worry about cams. Exhaust and a free flow air cleaner would be a better investment. Half the cost per h.p. You will have to take the cams out, however, to change the inner bearings (if yours aren't torringtons). I doubt that you will need lifters or push rods but using adjustable push rods makes for easier changes later (and/or checking your tensioner shoes). You will need to change cams, however, if you are going to get an inner roller chain.

If you are worried about $ and aren't going to do the work yourself, then I would change the tensioners, the inner cam bearings, and the pushrods and get the ac/exhaust upgrade. Period. You got 40k+ out of your existing tensioner shoes. Some say that the new hydraulic design isn't any better. Once you have the adjustable push rods, anybody with a little bit of mechanical skill and experience can keep changing the tensioners for a total cost of $200. That's cheaper than tires per mile.

Of course, you may find that you have no choice but to change other stuff, like your cams that are worn.

21's make more compression then the other cams mentioned for your application. Compression = tq.

That being said, none will rip your arms off with out more work like BB kit, headwork...
