I want convert my 2007 FXSTB (standard) to a FLSTCI (heritage classic)
I found a 2004 FLST (heritage) complete front end.
After talking to HD engineers and found out that the trees tube holes are .270 narrower on the the FL's, can you believe that crap !!! what I didn't ask is .. are the frames the same .. primarily .. the rake !!! After finding out that the trees are so different .. which I find so completely STUIPED .. money wise !!!!
Any ways ... The top tree on the FL is almost straight across .. the FX tree is a "triangle" so does it change the trail/rake ???
OH !! and does anyone know why they went from a 3/4" axle to a 1"
Even the HD engineer I spoke to didn't know why .. I figured Showa just told them thats what they were going to get ..
Yea .. The BS thing .. I've been told by others that the trees ARE different.
This came straight for HD engineering .. He pulled the drawings.. I have the phone # .. just don't like to abuse it.
Well. Dude, no offense but I don't see the BS. HD makes different models... so what? If we all decide to change em around thats on us.
I wanted a night train and an FX springer when I bought my bike. So I bought the night train, and when I had enough money I bought the springer forks and but em on my ride. The axle size was different for me too... good time to buy custom wheels.
So maybe you gotta buy new trees... make it work dude! I'm sure it'll look good, I can't wait to see it done!
The trees are not the same but if you have the whole ft end just bolt in on your frame it will fit on there. The upper tubes are shorter and the lowers are longer not by much but thats what you get from the MoCo. There are lots of stuff that they say won't fit but do. Don't let that stop you
I put a 04 fatboy front on my 06 standard fit like a glove used a deluxe fender every thing botled right up. I think ur axel is dif on a 07, think they changed them in 07.
