Default J & M handle speaker install

Trying to finish up my new speaker install but had a few last minute questions. Where is the best place to run the power wire? Really don't want to run it direct to battery, would rather have it only hot when bike was either running or on acc. Also when running the hot and ground under the tank do I need to add something around the wires to protect them from the heat? Seems they will get pretty hot from the jugs. Thanks in advance. By the way I did a sound check with them and they do sound really good.

Most wiring will be fine with the heat as long as it is automotive grade. That is unless it is touching the hot metal.

I would run a relay for the power if you want it switched with the ignition. The ignition circuit is not meant for the high draw of the amp.

I spliced mine into the wiring coming off the switch under the console, and thus ran the wire under the console from the front of the tank. It works with the switch in either ON or Accessory position, which is exactly how I wanted it to be.
