Made the dive, first HD. Have not ridden a big bike in 20 years since a Honda 750, but been riding dirt bikes. Got the Red Lava color, last one left on the floor...whoo hoo!!! Great forum site.
They offfered the HD extended warranty. Is this a worthwhile purchase, or should I leave it?
Howdy, welcome to the forum. Congrats on the new FB. Some like the extended warranty and some don't see the need. I think that it might be an individual thing. Enjoy the ride
$680 seems reasonable, although its all a gamble. I just bought a 2001 NT with 4,400 and no warrenty. I have no worries, but I guess any trip to the dealer could easily eat up $680. If it was me, I probably would NOT buy it, since you are good for 2 years. Good luck.
PS I bought a EW for my Vette, althought it was for 5 years and cost $900, and with a tranny costing $4000 for a new vette, I thought $900 was a good gamble.
When I bought my Dyna Glide earlier this year, I could have bought 5 more years for something like $1140. That would have given me 7 years total. I chose not to buy it , but maybe should have. Anyway, before I'd buy an extended warranty, I'd check the price for each option 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 more years. You might be surprised to learn that your cost per year differs quite a bit. Can't tell you whether or not to get it, just give you some more info on it.
Also one of the selling tools that they use on the extended warranty is the fact that it pays for expenses if you are in a trip while you are waiting for the bike to be fixed. You can get this same coverage for $49.95 a year through H.O.G. Just more info.
Congrats on the bike. Art
