Fuel Problem - Not getting Fuel from Tank - HELP
So today I decide to put on my new Rocker Boxes, and in my wisdom I went to unscrew the fitting from the tank, instead of undoing to quick coupler. Now I cant get fuel. I loosened to fitting a little and I got some fuel.. enough that the bike will start and run, but I cant get any RPM from it.
Is there a certain position it has to be in, or direction it has to face, or do I have to take it apart? Im lost..

Hey man I had the exact same issue. I put apes on my bike, and instead of just using the quick disconnect my genius self decided to unscrew the drain plug it self. Well, after all was said and done, the hose that went to the fuel pump was twisted so bad it crimped it completely not allowing any fuel what so ever. I ended up having to pull off the panel, removing the tank cover and completely take out the fuel pump and I replaced the fuel line with EFI line (1/4 inch I think).
It's been working just fine for about a year and about 6,000 miles. Just be sure you use a hose clamp on the fuel pump end. You won't need it on the Drain plug, but my buddy said it would be fine without it on the fuel pump, and a week later that bad boy popped off inside the tank, leaving me high and dry on the freeway. I clamped it down snuggly with a hose clamp and no issues since.
Let me know if that works for you brother, or if I'm even giving valid information to help with your issue.

Willing to bet that's what happened. When you unscrewed it, you either pulled the hose off the fuel pump, or kinked it like a garden hose.
A bit of advice - get a new gasket and sealing screws for the fuel pump plate. Otherwise, you'll might be redoing all the work again for a leak on the top of the tank.
Good luck.
Not cheap fuel line but goes back to the person working on it, it is not made to be fool proof. we all make mistakes thats why you spend the money for a service manuel. Then you would be riding and not repairing it. Sorry to be cruel but a spade is a spade

..but yup... still.. Harleys fuel line they use is a cheap piece of **** Ive seen better line used on a pour spout off a water jug for camping
Glad you found the issue brother. It took me and a buddy about an hour to figure out the problem. We were kicking ourselves once we did.
Redbeard, wish I had heard that advice a year ago... I would have done it just as a precaution. I haven't had any issues so I think I got lucky

Cut off the crimp clamp, remove the line, untwist, and reinstall with a screw-down hose clamp.
Seriously, don't skimp on the gasket and sealing screws for the top plate. It's a real pain in the *** to find out you have a gas leak when you have a full tank, and then try to replace that stuff. $25 in parts that your dealer should have will save you a big headache.
