I went with 12.5" apes as well and went +6" over on all my cables and the fit was perfect. I didn't have a compressor so I just tied a nut to some twine and fished it throught the bars. Just take your time and you'll get it. The finished product is well worth it.
The cables I'm not sure of.The fuel tank you speak of. Is this the kit to raise th height in the front so you can clean the rocker box.If it is I made mine for the cost of 10 cents. All it is a shakel about 2inches tall. But beaware it will throw your fuel reading off.
Coaster, I put 9 1/2 apes on our '05 springer classic. They worked out well for my height (5'8"). Extended the wiring, ran them inside using info found here in 'do it yourself' forum. There are pictures on how to remove the wiring from the plug ends. I used stock clutch cable. 6" over throttle cables and 48" front brake line. Sorry I have no pictures at this time. Santa just brought us a new digital camera and as soon as we figure out how it works, pics will be posted. Hope this info helps!!
Jim, I almost missed your post here. Glad I read through the thread again. Make sure you post some pics in the Springer Picture's thread when you got some new ones. I'd love to see the Classic with the 9 1/2's
