Softail Slim??
I bought my red '12 about 7 weeks ago. Been wanting a Harley since the first evolution motors came out. I rode one on a demo cruise. The kiss of death. It pushed me over the edge. LOVE the bike. The more I ride it the more intuitive you get with it. It's suprisingly quick. Handles very well. Yes, i scrape the boards all the time. Thinking about beveling them and putting some hard protectorant on them. Put a windsheld on it a couple of weeks ago. I want to do some touring on it next summer. I'm 5'11" and about 225 and it fits like a glove.
Took off the heel shifter. Have Stage 1 in the wings(mufflers back ordered) Street slammer bars, and a few other items to put on. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!
The last pic is before the windshield.

I picked up a 2012 Slim a couple of weeks ago. My first Softail. I had been riding a lowered 2008 Nightster. When I first got the Slim I didn't notice much difference in height. Today, however, I took the Nightster into the dealer for a recall (fuel filler). I was surprised how much lower and easier to handle the Slim is compared to the Nightster. I love it
My understanding is you have to relocate the license plate and turn signals to fit the HD removable luggage. Any other luggage options for the Slim? I'd also like to tour with mine. But most of the time it'll be a daily ride.
Stopped by the dealer to pickup something for my Forty-Eight, saw the Slim--
Looked like a massive Forty-Eight (I always liked the stye), sat it ---Yeah :-)
Test rode a Slim, Fatbob, and Wide-Glide-----Im 6' 5"------ Liked em all !!
The Slim won, due to style, and just a bad *** look. A case could be made for each---Great bikes---!
Ive had the Slim now for about 6 months --------Love the 103 -------had surgry and kept me from complting upgrades this year----so far--pipes only "Pythons" sound very good and LOUD----------

I'm confused, I've seen 5'11 folks in this thread saying they're cramped and I've seen two 6'2 gents saying the Slim fits 'em like a glove.
I'm 6'1 and had my heart set on a Street Bob or 1200 Custom. After a HD demo day last week I think I'm in love with the Slim. The Street Bob was too vibey (favorite Dyna was the Fat Bob), Sportster was too small. Slim was a revelation; the smooth engine, the floorboards, the surprisingly plush suspension, the wide bars (similar to my current BMW... I'm making the switch to HD).
My only concern is long-ride (3hrs +) comfort. Coming from a BMW GS I'm spoilt with SUV-esque comfort. How do you tall Slim owners find the loooow seat? What does that do to your hips and knees? It looks like a solo spring seat can be added and that adds about 2". But the tuck and roll just looks perfect against that red pain (thought I'd go black denim until I saw that red paint in the sun).
Appreciate any insights fron owners.
Thanks

I'm glad I picked the red too. Gets darker as it gets towards evening too.
I ride mine quite a bit. Haven't done any long trips yet but have spent an hour or two in the saddle at a time. It's more comfortable than one would think. Maybe not a great touring seat but my but never falls asleep. I bought a Sundowner for touring. Haven't tried it yet. From pics on here they look kind of wrong on the Slim. Want to keep that bare look. A Mustang Solo seat might be the way to go.

I bought a '12 Denim and since the transition from sportbike to HD, I've been riding the heck out of it!!! So much and so long that my butt does go numb. I'm currently in the market for a new seat OR I read on this forum that we can send the original one off to get gel inserts. Which would you recommend? I love the look of the stock seat, but, if I had to get a replacement, it would have to be the Mustang Wide Tripper (link attached).

I too want to keep the bare look. I've read the Mustang seats are really nice. Any feedback/insight would be great....from anyone. Thanks all!!
