made a 1.5" tank lift for my 07 FXST and was gonna see if i could do it with out removing fuel lines, took the front bolt out and loosened the rear and went to pick up on the tank and it wont budge, is there something else holding it? Did one on my wideglide and it was a piece of cake,
Make sure the rear bolt is more loose than you think and then 'break' the paint that is in the joints. I did this just last weekend and found that it was just the paint preventing it to lift.
Disconnect the fuel-overflow line from under the front of the console? helps to remove the console too and just let it hang down.. btw, the fuel-crossover line may not be long enough after a 1.5" lift, the one on my FatBoy Lo sure wasn't..
Hey Keith would you mind posting a pic or too of what you fabbed up uninstalled?
If not no biggie just would like to see what the brackets and all look like
Thanks
Sean
Might just need a little elbow grease if it hasnt been lifted in a while, dont think there is anythign that would actually be sealing it to frame except year of it being bolted together. Give it a little tug.
Had to work at getting the tank off on my 08 as well when I was moving around some electrical stuff. Couldn't find anything in particular, just a snug fit around wiring etc.
On another note, and sorry for the newbie question, but help me understand what is the purpose of the tank lift? Is it for looks alone or is there some other benefit.
