Thanks Peg, I've been looking for someone to paint my bike this winter. I plan on adding the extended bags & front fairing this winter & want to do a custom paint scheme to my bike. I will check there website out..
I haven't done my brakes yet but coming across this was great for me. Something I know to look for. Thanks for sharing, and thank God you're okay. Could've been a different story altogether.
Peg, I have a friend who took her bike to a shop and they did the same thing with hers. It stinks but you are lucky it happened where it did. Good Luck with the show.
Bike is ready, $345. I don't think I will go after the shop that did it for reimbursement, I'm just grateful for the way it went down.
But when am I gonna stop having so many problems with the bike? I'm really, truly getting discouraged. My husband warned me, the more mods, the more trouble. He was right.
Mods done correctly will last mile after mile. Glad you didn't get hurt. You're being nice with the original indy. That pad is easy to install and that kind of mistake is BS.
HD had a recall a few years back on certain year bikes for brake problems. If I remember it had to do with the bolts being too short on the calibers and possibly backing out. do a google on it.
I had the same thing about a month ago when I installed my lyndall's. The rear pad you really can't see once the caliper is mounted (with solid wheels), you have to reach up and feel it...which I did not know at the time. It took a few days of riding till I started to notice that is was getting hard to move the bike, that is when I noticed the inside pad was not seated right.
Any reputable mechanic should have known to check the pads for proper seating after the installation...I know will be doing it anytime I have to remove/replace them.

Of course he is right, we always are.
But this could have happened to a stock bike that had the brake pads replaced by a mechanic that wasn't paying attention.
