I would insist the other shop pay the bill or meet them in court. He as a shop owner has the responsibility to ensure that the person working on the bike has the proper knowledge to complete the repairs. Im sure if you let him know you will be going to court or the BBB he will pay the bill… and if that means the tech gets fired so be it. You were lucky… what if the next person isn’t.

Just got the bike back. Couldn't start it - he had to jump it. There's a short draining the battery. It's likely I won't be able to start it when I leave work later tonight. I'll have to call AAA.

Going to be a good day, eh?

Well the short was fixed, GPS and LED lights work.

Went to Laconia Bike Week, had a lot of fun up there. Won 2 trophies, $100, and a Bike Show grand finale prize of a box with dice, playing cards, a whiskey flask, and shot glasses. A man's prize if there ever was one

Bike behaved

Funny story: on the ride back home, a bee stung me right above my eye. I pulled over in the first parking lot I could find to type in "hospital" on my GPS in case I needed one.

Pretty soon a car with some sort of officer inside comes through the parking lot, watching me very suspiciously. Finally he drives over to me and says "not the best place to take a rest break." I repeat "not the best place to take a rest break?" "No."

So I don't question him and don't explain about being stung. I just say OK I'll move on. He watches me carefully until I leave.

As I'm riding away, I look back and what do you know, I was in the parking lot for the NH state prison, barbed wire everywhere. Here I am in the parking lot with fast bike and luggage on the back. I suppose they thought I was there to help Joe Prisoner over the wall.

It can only happen to me
