The input I can add is I have heard nothing but problems for. The HD heated grips. I ride 300+ days a year. Including the winter. I run Tour Master rain gear and First Gear heated gear. The Iran gear is awesome. My heated gear my wife bought me 2 seasons ago works but the gloves stopped, so before this year I'm switching to Tour Master for heat. I read the reviews and see what people have to say. You might start there. So far I'm am impressed with the quality.

I run the Gerbing heated gloves. Wiring has lifetime guarantee.

Its the backside of your hands that gets cold, not the palms.

I've heard bad things about the HD grips too.

Some people make their own heated grips: http://www.aerostich.com/heated-grip-kit.html

Or you could put wraps around them: http://www.aerostich.com/aerostich-warm-wrap-grips.html

Get a pair of these:

They really work. Cutting the wind helps with most of the cold problem.

Is there a snow mobile place near you? They have inserts for heated grips. ~$30. I had those on a BMW I road, 5 yrs & 70K with no problems.

I have HD heated grips, three years and no problems. They are nice for cool mornings and evenings, when the hands hurt a bit of heat soothes them.

that sounds like the way I will go , easier to install and she could wear them on my bike if we were riding 2 up , just a second plug
