Wasnt when I bought mine. Got mine for 17k out the door and the wanted 18,800 for the wideglide wich is what I really wanted. Decisions, decisions. Only you can make it. If you are really split then make it about the $. You really cant go wrong with either. How much do you plan to ride. Recrationaly. Long trips. Agressive or geezer. 2 up or solo?

Well, I tried my local credit union and they came back with 9.75% for 60 months. I said...uh...no. lol

The Harley dealership is at 8.75% for 60 months but the first dealership (where the Softail is and is not a Harley dealer) they are at 7.9% for 84 months, which is reasonable for me. I can do 60, 72 or 84 months at 7.9%....thats one of the reasons I am leaning towards the Softail... and also because I like them both in different ways and would be happy with either.

Yea, thats the way I feel...I can't go wrong with either...both are very nice and decent deals.

I may ride 500 miles a month.... or more like 1000 during the spring, summer and fall here in Cali and then not much during the winter. More recreation driving..not so much long trips. I had a sportster before and was more agressive and it handled pretty well since it was so small but I like the laid back riding also. But I assume that Softail will get up and go if I need it too? Right? I will probably mainly ride solo but would like to get a small sissy bar to pop on if the wife wants to ride around town. I have a 2 year old so its not gonna happen much (which both of us riding).

Btw...I asked another poster...can anyone tell what kind of seat is on the Softail in the first post?

When I bought mine they gave it to me for 18,000 out the door. Harley wanted $2g down and was offering me 8.something for 72 mnths. My credit union wrote me a check for 18,000g and gave me 3.2% for 60mnths. I walked in, bought the bike, and rode away w/ a smile.

WOW, nice!

Yea, my credit union does offer better deals on new bikes but even then they are only offering 5.9% for 60 months. Problem is I am only financing 10k with the Softail and $10,500 with the Fat Bob. I like the idea of a better interest rate and longer terms so I keep leaning towards the Softail...which I would be getting for $10,700 (or $12k out the door).

After more back and forth this morning with the Softail dealer (not a Harley dealer), they are giving it to me as promised at $12k out the door. I am paying $10,900 for the bike then taxes, tag, etc. I just couldn't pass it up because of the long term financing and price. I liked the Fat Bob also but this is the better deal for me being that I dig both bikes. Guess I'll be in the softail forums more soon.

Welcome aboard! Warning: topics to stay away from, oil questions, poser RUB biker question, leather chaps and vest questions, 3 piece patch questions. Good luck and post some pics!
