Had a dealer offer a $750 gift certificate on a deal once. It can be a decent negotiation point in some deals.
Well, the manager never said how much of a gift card he would give but he never offered to sell me the bike at $12k like they promised either. He never said anything about lowering it from $10286 (what I would be financing after my $2k down payment) so it was probably some $25 or $50 gift card.
I'm so irritated at them because its not about the extra $286. That's not enough to matter. Its the principle of them not being honest and granted the main guy at the dealer said he didn't know what was going and would deal with them accordingly. Part of me wants to take the deal and deal directly with the main guy (he was very nice an apologetic) because I know they are rock bottom and the financing was so good and I believe the bike is worth the $10800 (before taxes, etc) they are asking.
Maybe you should go in, talk to the manager, see what he's willing to do for you and decide from there. Maybe he doesn't realize what a schmuck he has for a salesman, you can make sure he's well informed before you leave. AND, if he's truly sorry. he'll honor the original deal and meet your price. Tell him that's what you want, and that his offer of the gift card was nice but you would prefer to just get the deal you were promised. Tell him what you've told us, the deal was made, you arranged for the down payment, insurance, etc.
and that if he honors the deal you'll recommend his dealership and get all your service work done there ( Even if you don't care to!! ). If it's really the bike you want, do everything in your power to get your deal, don't walk away from it just because the salesman was an A$$.

I actually did speak to the manager (the head guy at the store) and explained it all over the phone. I was so pissed that I said they could offer me the bike at $11k and I wouldn't take it. lol Of course, I was pissed and the store manager was very apologetic and I think he knows his sales guy and his sales manager that promised me the deal really screwed up.
I don't know that he would honor the deal because he never said anything about it when talking to me on the phone. But maybe that's because I said I would never step foot or any of my friends step foot in his store. lol Man, I was pissed.
I have his email and I do think about emailing him and laying it out and I would also then have a "paper trail" of our agreements. I can tell him I have calmed down and while I do believe his sales guy and manager were dishonest, I appreciated him contacting me and tell him he can keep the gift card and if he will honor the original deal I will accept. I already know they will do the original deal plus the extra $286 they were trying to get. I just have a feeling he will not honor the deal because he said he was $600 in the hole on the bike already selling it to me at $12,286 out the door. Whether thats true or not, who knows... but he did seem honest whereas I never really trusted the sales guy from the beginning.
Take the gift card, accept the owners apology and leave. When you do get a bike the first stop you should make is to that dealership. Pull up on your bike, park in front and then use the gift card to buy rinky-dink **** for the bike you bought from someone else. Shove it right up their ***.

Crappy news indeed. Are you going with the FXDF? I rode one before, it had a completely different feel than a Softail. The feel reminded me of my wife's rubber mounted Sportster.
The financing part of it really comes out to be the same in the end as far as dollars go...
$10000 @ 9.75% for 72 = $184/mo with total interest paid = $3,248
$10000 @ 7.90% for 84 = $155/mo with total interest paid = $3,050
so if the loans went to maturity, your out of pocket money would be about the same if you went to the fatbob.
I liked the idea of having a lower note every month so I went with the Softail at $155 a month. I bought the bike for $10835 (plus taxes, etc) so I feel like I got a great deal. I love the bike.

Ok, so what happened? Why'd you buy a bike from someone you said you wouldn't?
