I have an 04 Nightrain and the starter turns strong but it sounds like it's not fully engaging something like a spline. It sounds like its rubbing or scraping against another metal piece but the engine doesn't sound like it's turning over. Any advice would be appreciated.

 

If its making a funny clacking sound may be the battery.
