Default Horn problem

I waswas sitting on my bike idlingtoday and when I pushed the horn button, it made a kind of sick muffled sound. I pushed it a few more times and I heard a pop and saw smoke come out from around the tank area on the opposite (left side) of the bike. Now I get no sound at all from the horn. I suppose I blew out the horn. I checked all fuses and they are not blown. I checked all other electrical items (turn signals, brake light, gas gauge, high/low beam, etc.) all work fine.

Any ideas?

Is this covered under my warranty?

The horn died two days after I bought my 2007 Electra Glide Classic and they replaced it no charge. I heard they have a lot of clunkers.

Mabie your horn just died. Disconect wires at horn then push horn button while hooked up to a volt meter or just touch wires to another horn and see what it does. Check wires for shorts.[8D]

Warg, didn't anyone ever tell you never to let the smoke out of anything electrical? It's the smoke that makes it work. Once you let the smoke out, it never works the same again. LOL, seriously though, 2 year unlimited mileage warranty, let the dealer figure it out and make it right...

Yeah my bike is still under warranty. Hey do you think if I take them an aftermarket horn cover, they will install it when they switch out my horn for no additional fee? It shouldn't be anymore work.

I wouldn't even bother with it if I didn't have to have it to pass inspection.

Hard to say. I guess it depends on what kind of relationship you have with the dealer and whether they're decent folks or not. I'd say it's worth asking about... The worst that can happen is they say "no."
