Went to 14's over a year ago and never looked back. No regrets and no more back or neck pains. Went from riding an hour before having pain with drag bars to riding out a full tank before stopping and still without pain.

I can only add to what has been posted. Apes were much better for my posture in general. If your planning high mile trips in excess of say 500 miles a day, you can always pop a small bar mounted windshield between the apes as well. For short trips in the 200-300 mile range, open apes are the bee's knee's. I am in the middle of a temper tantrum right now as I wait for all my parts to arrive for my ape setup. I have had this stupid motorcycle almost 4 weeks and I still don't have everything I need to start my install. Hopefully, Monday everything will be here and I can get them on the bike.

It's all subjective. So far people that love apes have posted. My Bones came with apes and they were awful for me. For short trips they were very comfortable but for longer trips say only 50 miles they killed my back. I was fighting the wind the entire time. I tried pushing them forward, pulling them back. Nothing worked for me. And they killed my shoulder.

I'm 6ft and I have long arms, I could easily reach 16in bars but I didn't like it. I went to beach bars and now I can ride all long. 400 miles trips are laughable anymore.

I've had drag bars though. They are great for in town but they are tough for any distance I think.

Good luck to you either way.
