I've been looking for three weeks for a solo rack I can attach to the rear of my 2012 Slim. There is not a viable OEM option, as everything they have which MIGHT work requires either a rear pillion install or a taillight relocation (which is quite involved being that the Slim does not have a dedicated taillight to hang the signals off of). There's nothing that I can find on the aftermarket which looks like it would fit readily - the dimensions are off a bit between the mounting holes.
On my 2007 Dyna, I found a Motherwell rack for a Softail which did end up working. I'd like this same kind of rack, as it just attaches to the seat bolts rather than the sides of the fender.
Is there an option out there I am overlooking, or do I just need to sit back and wait for someone to make one? I've considered just having a custom one done up, but I wanted to check here first to see if anyone else has had any luck finding such a thing.
The only one I have seen is offered by the MoCo, but (as you said) it requires a tail relocation. I got that kit for my Slim...it drops the tail, turn and lic plate all to the fender. I like the slimmer look. I hear the MoCo catalogue is coming out in a few weeks, which the guys at my dealership say will have a lot of updated Slim accessories. I'm gonna hold off on some mods until the industry catches up to the Slim/Blackline. A lot of sites don't even mention those two bikes in their drop down menus. Good luck.
I was going to recommend Motherwell, but it looks like you already checked out that option. You may want to look at the website for any updates for your model. I love mine and it adds a lot of style to the rear fender.
looks like we are all waiting for options either from harley or after market----this bike is just too new and harley did not do a good job for options even the harley dealers say this
but harley is meeting with it dealers soon so we will see what they come up with
I am patiently waiting as well. I find it hard to believe that this awesome bike does not have many accessories available. In the mean time we can all save up and prepare for the madness!!!
ya same here, was the 1st thing i wanted to get, now considering detach saddle bags. Like dude said, MoCo parts book comes out soon, other than that I know I've seen guys have custom sissy bars made, but a solo rack out of round bar may be pricey to have made custom by a shop. My bet, along with seat options, will come with time.
