Default Boot marks on exhaust

I have an embarassing number of boot marks on my exhaust. I have tried a lot of remedies, even the HD remover, that stuff runs like water & works about as well. One of the former HD techs here suggested brake fluid for removal. Any suggestions????

On chrome exhaust get pipe pretty hot and rub with penny. An older penny it has more copper in it. Take pliers and hold penny and rub it comes off like butter. Copper is softer it will not scratch pipe. I know u probably think im nuts but try it u will thank me.

I use Mother's polish, a lot of elbow grease and generally about 3 beers. It seems to work for me, but I keep up with cleaning it off after it happens. Was never an issue till I started riding the Heritage, now my foot some how finds the pipe on a long ride even though I am conscious of the problem.

What I normally do is warm my pipes back up, use a damp towel and and a little bit of rubbing will remove them. This use to happen to me with my old pipes all the time.

Thanks, also HD pisses me off with their new products. They have a heelguard available for the Softails, but it doesn't fit the halfmoon boards. How stupid can they be to not make one for all the Heritage owners out there.

I've tried every remedy listed in this thread and elsewhere on this site. The ONLY one that worked for me was using the penny, then followed up with some polish.

I use acetone. It is inexpensive from Home Depot, paint section. Works better when the pipes are still warm. Dab some on a rag and just wipe....Don't breathe it in.

I use Purple Slice. Cleans and polishes the whole bike as well. Gets bugs off the windshield really easy.
