I have a 2009 harley crossbones. The springer does not rock up and down like I think it should. Stays in the down position when front brakes are applied. I checked the service manual and checked the rocker bearing retainer torque. the recommended torque is 25-35 in-lbs. When torqued to these specs I can hardly move the rocker. Shouldn't the rocker move easy? This my first springer. any ideas?
Thanks
have you or service had the rockers apart lately?Or any of the front end for that matter?
All tq. values are in ft. lbs not inches. The jam nut on my 96 is 95-105 ft lbs.Kinda sounds like spherical bearings are either dry, they need to be greased, installed backwards or someone tq'ed the living **** out of them. Also a possibility a broken rebound spring or the nuts have backed off.Plenty of things could be wrong but without hands on it would be hard to diagnose on here. If your gonna wrench on your bike get a HD service manual.Springers are not involved and neither is the maintenance to keep them working properly.
