To everyone that took the time to respond to my earlier thread about changing fluids for the first time. It really wasn't hard at all with the right tools and all the awesome information out there(dudeworld!). Can't believe how much I've been paying people to do this. 80 bucks for an oil change? Never again. Few little notes and maybe questions.
1. Getting that bolt back between the shocks was a total pain! But I stepped back relaxed and got it done.
2. There was some white stuff on the thread of all the bolts. I wiped them as clean as I could. Few shavings on the trans actually that surprised me.
3. Found two decrepit decaying o rings on the oil drain plug. Great job Harley dealer!
4. Over filled oil by a bit, but not ridiculously seems ok. No leakage.
5. If I can do it anyone can. If you haven't do it, I saw parts of my bike I never looked at before. Which was a good things, as I found a weird chip in the underside of frame by swingarm. Will post pics tomorrow.
Thanks again for all the help, great place here. It may seem ridiculous to be so proud of just doing all three holes, but my wife came into the marriage with more tools than I did so hey, not bad.
I'm gonna tackle this for the first time tomorrow, wish me luck! lol
My biggest issue is going to be getting the tranny dipstick off with a Ball Allen Socket. I have a 3/8" "L" Allen wrench but I don't think there is enough room for me to wiggle in there to loosen it.
