Default 200mm Rear Softail Custom

Anyone know where I can find a good deal on a chrome wheel for the rear of my 09 Custom? The bike has seen a fair share of weather, that aluminum rear is starting to get all that tarnish and callous on it. Time for it to go.

Are you looking for stock style or aftermarket? There are lots of options for aftermarket wheels. You could also have that one chromed, or you could sand/polish it yourself

400 to 2000 grit wet sanding and a good aluminum polish will make that rear wheel look almost as good as chrome and will be much easier on your wallet

I'm preferential to eagle one metal polish
It comes in a little tin with wadded cotton works great on my chrome and after wet sanding my alum wheel it made the alum have a mirror like finish

I went through this exact same thing with my 2007 Softail Custom with the aluminum rim.

I tried every method of polishing, every chemical, and every tool.

It looked good for a little while, but even with diligent maintenance, it would always dull.

Finally, I pulled the stock aluminum rim off and sent it to Browns Plating to be chromed.

Best investment I ever made. Just wipe it off with a rag when it gets dirty and it always looks brand new.

Should have just done it when I first got the bike.

How much did that run you? I don't care too much for the solid rim, but if it was cheaper I'd prob do the same.

I think after having the tire broken off the rim, shipping both ways, and remounting/balancing, it was around $650.

The stock, slotted, chrome rim looks amazing on that bike. Worth every penny not to ever have to do any real work to polish it.
