Default Shotgun shock question

I know there is a forum for shocks but it isn't well traveled and need answer asap.

Installing my shock all going well but wondering if there is a difference on which side the wiring goes, and if the correct side is up the bike right side

Thanks
Tom

I ran the wiring up the right (exhaust) side and zip-tied it to the existing wiring that runs along the same area and up behind the battery...if that's what you're asking.

Yep, that's almost EXACTLY what I did. I can't remember why, but it seemed like you had to route it to the right first (short ground wire from the harness, was it?) and then over to left via behind the battery/fuse compartment. I made the grave mistake of running my harness part-way under the tank (while I had it off for other mods) before dropping it down above the horn. One of my switches failed and I got a new switch harness, but now it's gonna be BITCH to replace.

ok cool, thanks. Taking way longer cause I'm going out of order and keep getting hung up, the washers on the stock shoulder bolts aren't needed anymore? I put them back on but the shoulder comes tight before the washers did, oh well they will stay cause that sucked.

Because of where the wires come off the unit, you'll see it's more practical to run the wiring up through the rear, right side of the battery box. When I installed mine I was lucky in that I had the bike stripped down so access to everything was wide open. The electrical part of the install is super easy with plugs that will only plug one way and will only mate up with the correct connectors etc.

I initially ran my wiring along the back bone of the frame with my tank off and at the last minute luckily changed my mind. Shane hopefully you'll just be able to loosen the front tank bolt and remove the rear bolt to lift it enough to pull it out. Or you may be able to just clip the wires and pull them through?

Well, I got it wrapped up, sorta. I was function checking and the switches don't stay in the up position so I had to hold them up. No big deal.

The big deal is that apparently my wire routing isn't correct. Turns out that the swing arm hit the relay and eventually it cracked the case and sparks went flying and fuse blew. Good thing it was fused cause it would have burned the wires in the clear.

So now I need a new relay and to re route the wires so they don't pinch on the swing arm. Can anyone post pictures of how they ran the wires from the shock and compressor for me?

Also, anyone know what kind of relay is used?
Thanks
Tom

Something is definitely not right. Nothing should even be close to getting pinched. Everything should be routed up in front of the swing arm and pivots and of course be covered by the plastic mudflap.

Here's a picture that was posted awhile back. Don't know how much it'll help:
