Default Fat Boy Lo For Beginner?

Hi everyone.
I've talked to one dealer so far, but thought that actual riders would be best for this question.........
I raced some motocross bikes growing up from age 9 until about 16.
Mainly a Suzuki RM 80 and RM 125.
Since then I haven't ridden a bike and I'm now 40.
I love how the Fat Boy Lo's look.
I was at a dealer Saturday and sat on all the bikes.
The Lo was definitely the most comfortable for me and I guess with the lower center of gravity made it seem a lot easier to stand up.
Any thoughts here?
Thanks.
- Dave

Yep go Lo

Softails are great blank canvases...and the Lo along with most softies are great versatile bikes. Detachables for barhopping or trips. I myself ,think the Lo is a great handling bike for both highway or neighborhoods. Beware though...the handlebars can be uncomfortable to some such as myself. Had to swap mine out for something that sat me back with more reach and width.

My Lo is a keeper.

Take it for a test ride. Your gonna invest a lot $ so you might as well be sure. I personally love the way it handles, like you said low center of gravity, beefy tires, and just mean looking. Good luck and hope to see ya on the calling all fatboy Lo thread.

Like Jose said, first thing I did with my lo was fix the bars. Once you have your hands and feet comfy though, you can't go wrong with a lo. You do loose a little bit of lean angle in the corners due to the low hight of the bike, but once you wear those floorboards down a bit you don't notice as much. You can't go wrong with a Lo man.

I just purchased the Fat Boy Lo as my second Harley. I would encourage you to test out the Fatboy versus other options in the soft tail family and touring models like the road king. I am a rookie when it comes to bikes but testing out a range of rides will allow you to purchase with confidence.

Best of luck

Ride some others and make a comparison. The Fatboy Lo in Denim Black is sweet. I liked it, but ended up trading for an 08 Night Train....(long story). I am partial to trains, but if they were not in my noggin, the Fat Boy Lo is a nice bike too.

Test ride all you can (Dyna, Softail, Touring) and figure out what fits you and what feels the best.

Gotta agree with Paul, there is no such thing as a "beginners" bike. Find the one you feel most comfortable on and ride.

You posted this question in a Softail Forum, so many are going to agree that you should with a Softie. But you and ONLY you can decide what is going to fit YOU.

So go to a dealer, and ride as many as they will let you. Good luck and enjoy the process.

I was in your shoes when I bought my Lo...I had not ridden in 15 years and was looking for the best bang for my buck...I rode an ElectraGlide for many years, and that was the thing I had to compare the "feel" to...

I just happened to sit on a Lo while waiting on a salesman to show me the used Fat Boy...The way that bike "felt" when I stood it up closed me right there...I did not even test ride it, it "fit" me so well, I bought it on the spot...

So, since you have nothing to compare it to, take the advise of the regulars here and ride as many as you can...I do not know how the bike feels to a tall person, but I am 5'8" and the bike fits me like a good pair of jeans...

For most people a bike is an "emotional" purchase, not practical...But you can absolutely love the way something looks, but hate the way it feels...
