I do it on the demo rides, but wouldn't do it on my own sled. Don't think it's harmful if you hit it right, just POTENTIALLY harmful if you hit it wrong!

Guys, as I stated, it was an accident. I had my foot resting on the shift peg while decelerating and the tiny bit of force dropped it a gear. I wasn't sitting there wondering if it was possible and kicking the crap out of the linkage. And just like I posted earlier, I will continue using the clutch to keep promoting good riding habits and to not damage the bike. I just never knew this was possible to do.

This is just like the "LUGGING" post! It's all a matter of opinion and experience! I've done this since driving/riding and have never had to replace a tranny or clutch because of it. the clutch was invented to make shifting gears easier as to not have to exactly match the engine speed to the gears shifting to, also to make it able to stop without killing motor and slamming to a stop.....
In a car or tractor trailer combo I can come to a complete legal stop for a second or two without engaging the clutch or killing the engine and continuing on driving, but have never tried on an MC for obvious reasons!

If you are not comfortable doing this don't do it, if you are go right ahead. Your ride! I enjoy mine how I see fit, I can also fix said ride if I "F" it up to though...
