Just got mine in the mail today. i hope the third new one screws in right and doesn't leak!! woo hoo
I got the telephone call last week (8/29) and the local dealer took care of it before I headed out for the long weekend. However, it was not a "fuel cap" recall. Hell, I'd gotten rid of the stock cap long ago. After that I'd posted something about it on the Fatboy Lo thread but nobody else had heard anything about it.

It's not the gas cap. It's also my understanding that it has to do with emissions and the "adjustment" is very minimal. Time alloted for the fix is only .1 of an hour. For me, it was worth since the local dealer detailed my bike.
My brother and I received our recall letters yesterday, for our XBones. And all this time I thought I was over filling the gas tank on those half dozen or so occassions the gas leaked out; all very hot weather days as I recall. In reality, I never filled it above the bottom part of the filler neck. I guess I should have let the dealer know about this first time, never thought a simple gas cap could be defective.
Must not be a big fix, called my dealer today and you dont even have to make an appointment, just stop in and they will take care of it. Once I get over to the dealer will post up what they do
Yep, got mine today too... 2008 FXSTC. Have had mine leak on my a couple times on very hot days too last summer. The inside of my filler neck has paint on it and was rough around the sealing edge. My fathers 06 Dyna is not like that, no paint and smooth. I sealed up the filler hole to keep crap from getting in the tank and sanded the sealing edge smooth. Since then the cap seals better and I didn't have a leak at all this season, even on the hottest days we have seen around here. I also make sure I get every turn out of it when I tighten it too. Maybe that's all there was to it? It only took me a few minutes to do it. Can't imagine what else they could do in less then half an hour.
