They thread a tool into the tank and turn it one time. There is a lip inside the filler, if it's plastic, it does nothing to it. If it's painted, it takes the paint off.
So where does the paint go? Where do you think? He said he takes a rag and wipes out what he can.
I dont' think it's a big deal and will have it done, my tank has leaked and I thought I just overfilled it.
Got my notice and said they would modify the tank filler neck, if necessary, on my "09 Heritage. Bike has been on her side two times, (Damn Front Brake), and no leak but guess I'll let 'em check it.
I figured it was just a way to get me back in the door and hopefully buy some chrome, check out the new line of winter clothes, etc... Guess I was wrong.
I got mine in the mail a couple of days ago and recycled it. I changed out my gas cap right after I bought the bike because it leaked. I guess I will take it in when I go to buy stuff for my next oil change.

Dealer didn't do mine when in last month because they didn't have the tool yet either. Can't see having this done if there are no problems. Not crazy about having a loose cap if they bore out the threads. Let us know how you make ouf with it - ie. Feedback please!
