Nice. Looking forward to this.

Just curious. How did that Honda handle with the gixxer swingarm and the dual shocks? Did you weld on a mountingpoint on the swingarm?

If you put a race frontend on that softy too, you gotta make a writeup. As for now I'm loving my springer, but I get bored easily, so who knows......

Keep posting.

The 750F rips with all the upgrades and modern suspension. The swinger was pretty much bolt on. I just had to get some bushings to bring the swingarm pivot hole down to the size of the 750F pivot bolt and put some spacers in between the frame as the swinger was slightly narrower that the stocker. I also had two tabs welded on the arm to run dual shocks. The chain line was almost perfect the first time. Instead of buying an offset sprocket for just a few milimeters I put two machine bushings behind the front sprocket. Have put several hundred miles on the bike, rock solid. Even took a five hour trip to cape cod, smooth!!!

I think I paid 50 bucks for the arm, 25 for the bushings and 45 to weld the tabs. Not a bad price for such a trick upgrade!!

The great thing about playin with old japanese bikes is that everything is so cheap. Even modern upgrades. Ebay is flooded with high end parts for cheap.

Nothin like hangin a big ole 180 off the back of vintage super sport!!

Man, I am loving this! I love that style you have on the first 2 bikes and I can't wait to see what you do with this Fat Boy! Maybe one of these days I'll take the plunge and pick up a nice project bike to tear up and rebuild... there is a nice Evo Springer on Craigslist here that needs work, but the guy is askin $3k for it and now I see this thread and you are seriously giving me the itch to start up a winter/spring project...

Thanx for the comp!! You may have seen the Gt. Once in a while I cruise through Yankee Harley on the old two stroker with chambers. You wanna talk about a noise maker!!! Definately gets the most looks whereever I go.

Hey captain, build away, youll love it!!

Ok, I guess I will show my hand concerning a major part of the build.

I mocked up the punisher (that is what I call my CB) rear end on the softail. Looks like almost a ****in "bolt on" job with some spacers. The major job would be fabbin up the shock mounts. But the rear of the softail frame is a nice big square. I think putting in a beefy cross member with a shakle would not be a huge deal.

Before everybody starts screamin about the looks, trust me, I have a plan. Think hot rob bobber, murdered out, denim (flat black) tank, drag bars, no bling bling and you will be on the right path. It will not be like a stock softail with japanese suspension.

I would love to use this CBR1000RR swingarm as the shock tower is already built into the arm. I would only have to build a bottom shackle, pretty easy. Only prolbem is that the CBR swinger is HUGE. I would have to machine about 1/8 inch off each side just to get it in the frame. That is not a big deal, but when I mocked it up it looked like the chain line would be WAY off, and that would be a major issue as I dont want to space out the primary. I dont think an offset sprocket would be enough.

Anyways, I am just at the start of the build, lots to figure out.

CBR swinger, HUGE!!!! see how the shock is already part of the arm. Wouldnt have to build the top mount!!!

Huge hunk-o-metal. I dont think I will be able to get it to work, but the cool factor would be like a 10 for sure.
