Sittin in the garage lookin things over and trying to detect issues before I run into them.

The rear brake master cylinder uses DOT 5 brake fluid. The CBR rear caliper uses DOT3. I know DOT3 and DOT4 can be used in place of each other, but I thought 5 was not compatible with 3 or 4?? Will my rear caliper work with the DOT 5 fluid??

Thanx for any info.

Pretty sure you can flush the system and then run a dot 5

You could run a DOT 5, the caliper should work fine. EXCEPT, you will need to completely flush the system and change any seals/gaskets/o-rings/rubber hoses or boots that have been in contact with the DOT 3/4. The 2 fluids can be highly corrosive to rubber when mixed. Plus, if your scoot has ABS, the DOT 5 will not work with it. Either way you decide, something will need to be completely flushed.

Well I am getting a new brake line on the rearend anyway. So I guess I will just rip the caliper apart and flush and clean the hell out of it. No ABS here, just the CBR caliper system in the rear and gixxer dual calipers up front.

Thanx for the info.

When I ran chains I liked to carry an extra master link. Got me home one night when I broke a chain trying to get through a mud patch (who'd a thought mud could lock a rear wheel?). Then it had two master links - the original master held, chain broke at a fixed link. Some master links have thicker side plates than the rest, don't consider that a weak... link. Ever try to put a chain on a bike dripping mud?

So my buddy and I spent four hours yesterday fabbing up and welding the shock shackle on. Came out friggin great!!! Ride hieght is about 1/2 inch lower than stock. Installed the chain and the rear brake line, Brake line is 45" long!!!!!!

I am ready to pull my friggin hair out!! I thought I would have it all together before work tonight. As usual, something you figured would take 2 minutes is taking 2 hours. I bolted the inner primary up and went to put in the starter jack shaft. The friggin bolt just wont grab the starter shaft and suck it all in. I am completey confused as the starter moved over with the tranny, so the offset kit should not have effected anything concerning the starter. Any info on this wouyld be great??? Oh well, I gotta go to work now. Will take a look at midnight when I get home. I also trimmed the bracket and put shorter springs on the seat. Looks way better.

Tons of refining to do so dont be too hard on me. Just tryin to get her on the road. Have all winter to tweak!!!!

Hope to take a rip tomorrow!!!

Shackle (big piece of angle steel running forward as brace, super strong)

Holy ****, I think the bike is about 250 lbs less, pushing it around the driveway was like a mini bike!!!

Look mom, I got a friggin chain!!!!

I like it with either back end but I really can appreciate what you have done and see why it is better to have the ricer rear end. It really makes it long and lean.

P.S. Love the snow in the background! Glad I live in Florida!

ctluba, the coupling between the starter output shaft and the jackshaft
has to be installed correctly. Try turning the coupling around and
re installing it.
