Just wondering what everyone is using for side-mount tag brackets when running a swingarm bag on the left side. I have seen both the axle mount and the swingarm clamp variations for the side-mount brackets. I am riding a 2011 Rocker C and I suppose my concern is that with the clamp version, it will require the bag to be pushed forward a lot interfering with the passenger pegs and with the axle mount it will push the tag bracket way out into space and look odd. In examining the bike, it seems that I would need the axle nut adapter from Top Down Products http://topdownproducts.com/html/axle_mount.html to do the axle mount set-up because of the recessed area of the swingarm in which the axle nut sits. Is this correct?
I am wanting to utilize one of the tag brackets from Road 6 Customs because of their simplicity and cost as compared to other options on the market.
Mine is an axle mount - that way it sits behind the swingarm bag (my swingarm bag is a LaRosa - dont buy it they are cheap quality - get one from Leatherworks)
I am liking the look of the axle mount the best, but am having a hard time parting with the money that Top Down wants for the Roto-plate. I may just get their axle mount and fab something myself... or hack up a Road 6 mount to my liking.
I used a road6customs axle mount plate. It's vertical so it doesn't stick way out. Price was right also. I added the LED mounting bolts to illuminate.
Sorry for bringing up such an old post. I'm tryin to do this exact mount on my night train. My problem is that the axle isn't long enough. When I install the mount there aren't enough threads left to properly install the crown nut. How did you make this work? Longer axle??
Thanks!
Hey Pete, I have the DK customs axel mount which looks pretty similar. Take off the thick washer, the mount should just replace that. Here's mine. And for the sake of this thread there's no problem with a swingarm bag fitting (Leatherworks)
