I have a 2011 Blackline fitted with a 103 kit and Vance & Hines Big Shot Staggered. These pipes are beautiful, but they are a bit loud for my taste and also maybe a bit harsh sounding. I'm not interested in the quiet baffle after reading reviews and listening to sound clips.
After researching exhaust systems and watching/listening to dozens of YouTube videos, I decided I want the Supertrapp Supermeg. I like the deeper rumble it delivers. Check out this video and listen to the engine rev at 28 sec into the clip. It sounds like an old muscle car to me. Music to my ears!
The problem is Dennis Kirk lists this exhaust for the 2012 but not the 2011. Is there any real difference between these bikes? I know the engine went from 96 to 103 (which I thought was simply an increase in bore), but aren't they essentially the same bike? When I check the Supertrapp website it's not even listed for the Blackline. I have a feeling they need to update it. I emailed Supertrapp a couple days ago and have not heard back yet.
Assuming it fits the 2012, shouldn't it also fit the 2011? Anyone know about this specifically or even general exhaust fitment issues from year to year?
I would think it would be the same and they just haven't updated. Is there a phone # listed on their contact page? That would be the best way to get their attention if there is.
One more thing, it's very hard to tell what a pipe is really going to sound like off of a you tube video.

I will try to call them Monday. I agree, you can't tell the exact sound, but I think you can get an idea. I also read many reviews by people who have had these pipes and other brands. They describe the sound as lower and more muffled. I really think I'll be happy with the Supertrapp. Plus the sound is tunable with the system of stackable disks.
I think the 2012 has a different sized o2 sensor...
Talked to Supertrapp. You are right; the only difference between exhaust fitment on softails from 2011 (and earlier) and 2012 is the size of the 02 sensor. The size in the 2011 is 18mm and the 2012 is 12mm. The motor size doesn't matter as the head ports are the same. Supertrapp has exhausts for both but has not updated its website yet.
Thanks everyone for the input. I will post pictures and hopefully a video once the new exhaust is installed.
