Calling all Heritage owners
That said, an engine guard is always a good place to start. Added protection for slow-speed lay-down (though I know that would never happen to you), and a good place to mount highway pegs makes the engine guard both nice for looks and function. Reinforcing the bags with inserts helps them to keep their shape, and is pretty inexpensive.
Now mine has, as you can plainly see, the Springer front end, which, in my experience, rides nicer then the telescopic fork of the standard Heritage, but does require some extra maintenance. Well worth it, IMHO.
I do not think you could go wrong with a standard Heritage. Each year (or vintage) has its own challenges, but nothing unique to the Heritage model. If H-D engines had some problem of that year, then it would too, but the Heritage, as far as I have seen or known, has no unique problems in particular.
Let us know what you wind up doing.
