07 Heritage, as for mods, custom paint job, V&H Bigshots, Stage 1, Billet Front 6 pot calliper, floating disc on the front, braided brake hoses, upgraded passenger seat for the touring seat, new speedo with combined tacho, fitted Harley bag stiffeners and locks, plus locking quick release for them, so can easily remove. Latest purchase, a set of Shotgun shocks, yet to fit.

The dealer is talking about lowering it. Also some type of change to the lids of the bags? Can not remember exactly what it was. So are there known problems with a Heritage? After having one, would you get another? Anyone with experience with one of these bikes, share it with me. I would appreciate it.
Most of the Heritage variants come pretty well equipped. They are also very easy to change the way they look with a simple bag/windshield removal. It is kind of like getting several bikes in one. They are very comfortable for touring or just tooling around town. I have found the Heritage model to be the most versatile bike in the H-D line. They really do everything quite well. There are some models that can do some things better, but no model does so many things so well as the Heritage.

That said, an engine guard is always a good place to start. Added protection for slow-speed lay-down (though I know that would never happen to you), and a good place to mount highway pegs makes the engine guard both nice for looks and function. Reinforcing the bags with inserts helps them to keep their shape, and is pretty inexpensive.

Now mine has, as you can plainly see, the Springer front end, which, in my experience, rides nicer then the telescopic fork of the standard Heritage, but does require some extra maintenance. Well worth it, IMHO.

I do not think you could go wrong with a standard Heritage. Each year (or vintage) has its own challenges, but nothing unique to the Heritage model. If H-D engines had some problem of that year, then it would too, but the Heritage, as far as I have seen or known, has no unique problems in particular.

Let us know what you wind up doing.

Ride safe

Well I got the bike on friday. Or I should say I ordered it. It is a 2012 carryover with ABS and security. I got a very good deal on it and they gave me more for my trade in than I paid for it. I am sending off for the 2013 special edition Bombshell paint set. All sorts of other extras too. They said it should all be ready by March.

I bought the Heritage last week, but will not get the paint set for 2-3 months.
These are pictures from Harleys site. If you have the 2013 parts book, they have a 2 page picture of this bike in the Softail section.

When I finally get it I will post lots of pictures.

Nice.. You will definutely turn heads with that!! I agree with most everyone else about the seat. Very comfy for a stock seat. A crash bar with highway pegs makes it even more comfy. If your gonna ride 2-up, your passenger will appreciate floor boards. The strap across the passenger seat bothered the back of my girlfriends legs so I just took it off and no more problem. If you plan on doing any weekend rides, a luggage rack is a must and cosmeticly looks good. I have an after market bag that fits on it for weekend rides.

Congrates on the new bike!!

Have ridden all kinds of bikes over the years. The only way I will replace my Heritage is with another Heritage. Love it. That is one great looking paint scheme you are getting. Enjoy.

I and my wife just purchased a flstc with abs and security. It is being stored over the winter at the dealership. We recently got a few mods done. I am new here so I will definitely be on the watch for more ideas

Oh oh you asked for it, the BEST mod to do is install the Shotgun Shock air suspension system. We have it on our '12 Heritage and the wife loves it, and so do I, as we both have bad backs and the road shocks from the SoCal roads was murder on us. JD, the owner of SS, has a forum member deal going on right now for the shocks, $1250.00 with free shipping, normally $1500.00 plus shipping. JD is a member of the forums just look up Shotgun Shock. OK I'm done now.
