Thanks for the input and the video Ramboamt. I was checking out the Bassanis yesterday. They seem to be a pretty good pipe and so far I'm leaning towards getting them based on the opinions of a lot of different people. I was looking at getting the short baffle but I'm concerned that they will be too loud for cruising at highway speed.
Also, from your description it looks like you are still running the factory air cleaner. Did you tune your bike for the pipes?
When you get up to highway speed (70ish mph) are the pipes still pretty loud or do they only get loud when you get on the throttle?
Answer to your first question about tuning the bike, no haven't tuned it as I haven't changed out the air cleaner yet, that's in the near future and when I do I will be going with the Power Vision tuner from Fuel moto.
The second question "while on the freeway" it is NOT overly loud, it is quieter then our Sporty with V&H short shots, but it does have that nice DEEP rumble and loud enough to let people know you are there. The only time when they are a bit loud is when getting on the throttle, but again, NOT to loud when compared to the V&H short shot's on the Sporty.
Hope this helps.

Based on what you've said, as well as a LOT of other input, I've pretty well decided to go with the Bassani pipes. Just one more question: if you decided that you wanted to swap out the baffles, maybe trading the long baffle for the short one, is that possible without swapping out the full system? Can you just slip on the other muffler?

Hmmm, not sure you might want to contact them. My pipes where the proto type pipes for the '12 Heritage with ABS.

This is on their website: "2>1 Performance exhaust system featuring stepped headers, true reverse cone megaphone muffler and a removable core with a polished billet end cap. Heat shields sold separately and available for most models". http://www.bassani.com/motorcycle/
Makes me believe that there's a louvered or "quiet baffle" available right along with their standard baffle that you could swap out if you chose to do so. Give them a call and find out.
No mention of the FatCat 2>1. Guess they've fallen out of favor. Personally, I love mine.
