Default Removing rocker boxes covers

I want to remove my rocker box covers on my 2008 rocker to have them powder coated. Is there anything else more to it other than removing those bolts on top of the rocker boxes?

From what I can tell the rocker box covers have two parts to them, a top half and a bottom half.

I'm also considering powder coating the push rod covers and the part which is at the bottom when're the ouch rods go into the case.

You guys that have done this have any suggestions for me before I dive in?

Simple job.

6 bolts on the top, remove top half. Once that is off you will see the rocker assembly. First loosen the two 3/8th" breather bolts (bolts might not come out while in the frame but will come out with the assembly), once those are out, rotate engine until both intake and exhaust are on the base circle of the cam (both pushrods down and valves closed), then remove the 4 bolts that hold the assembly down and removed this assembly and breather assembly together. If you want to do the pushrod tubes you can remove the pushrods now and remove the tubes, then remove the remaining 6 (I think) bolts that hold the lower RB down and remove.

Make sure you get new gaskets for the re-install, they don't do well with a reuse.

As far as the push rod tubes, you can cutt out the push rods with bolt cutters so you don't have to remove the rockers, and replace with SE adjustable push rods. which you can pick up at the dealer for about $165.00. easy to adjust.

I should be able to see the pushrods go down when I remove the top half of the rocker covers right?

After you remove the top cover and the clip piece to the push rod tubes, rotate engine to tdcc and you should be able to spin both push rods for that cylinder with 2 fingers. Then you can remove the breather and rocker assembly safely. No need to cut pushrods as stated above. After rocker is out you can remove push rods and remove the tubes for coating as well. Repeat for other cylinder.

edit: Looks like fcsallan squared you away.
