Removing rocker boxes covers

Guess why I was having problems removing the spark plugs with the 5/8 socket I bought. Because the stock spark plugs are 11/16 !!!!
How strange is that!! I always thought the standard spark plugs from the factory was 5/8. I bought two new ones from the stealer and their size is 5/8. Will that be a problem being that the stock ones were 11/16?
