Yup, thinking about swapping out my 36" mini cholo once Samson comes out with the monster super cholos that will be 51" long.
I cannot see Samson coming out with 51" long pipes. There's no way. People are cutting off the lower fin of the 42" fishtails because they scrape on everything. You couldn't navigate any incline with 51" pipes without scraping, bending or, as Motown Strag suggested, putting hinges on them.
What would they call them? If 39" are Cholos, then 51" would be Carretillas.
Not two weeks ago I put 28.5" Samson duals with the fishtail on my dad's 96 FLSTN. The really do sound good...not horrifyingly loud but they'll hear ya coming. Install is a touch tricky if the current ride doesn't have the left side bracket holes drilled out. His didn't so I had to drill the holes and cut the threads. He's a big man and the pipes are nowhere near dragging when he's on it--all 340lbs of him. Good luck! If I were him I'd have gone with a longer set but apparently he's not that flashy.
Just was also wondering if there is any difference in the sound of these Samson dual crossover pipes depending on the type of tips they have on the end of them?
