Default Fork Install Problem?

Just got my tripple trees and lowers powder coated. When installing the fork assemblies through the tripple trees they were really tight. When it came time for them to go through the top bracket I had to tighten the fork tube caps for the assemblies to cinch up in the upper bracket. When I was installing I did not have the pinch bolts installed and everything was treated for corrosion, only used a little WD-40 as lube. Steering head adjustment is good, and it rides fine. Anyone every had to use the caps to cinch up the fork assemblies? Opinions? This was on a 05 Night Train.

The powder has a thickness, and if the powder was applied inside the holes that the tubes pass through, then they would probably be a bit snug.

Been here, done this! Not highly recommended but I've used a flat pry bar to expand the opening of the tripple trees. Lots of grease also.

When I was installing them I made sure there was no powder coating or corrosion inside the tripple trees, and put some light grease inside to help fight corrosion, than put WD40 on the forks to help slide through. It was a pain to do but it worked, I thought it was weird how I had to use the fork tube caps to suck the forks into the upper bracket completely.

I've had it go both ways, sometimes a little tight, then the next time nice and loose. It seems that if I wiggled them a bit and twisted as I applied upward pressure, they'd snap up in place. I haven't had to suck them up with the top caps, and probably wouldn't. If you've got it all together and it rides ok, I wouldn't worry about it until next time you pull it apart.
