Default 03 Fat Boy

Working in Chicago for a few years - home is indy
Have a 200 Wideglide in Indy - thinking of picking up a used bike for Chicago
Considering an 03 Fatboy with less than 20K
Any points to watch for - recommendations etc
Thanks for any input

I like that yr bike, 88, only 10 yrs old under 20K, I hope you've checked prices before the purchase. You might want to take it to an indy for a check before purchase. Nothing is a stand out for that year that I can think of.

Cam chain tensioners are known to be an issue.

Have over 92000 miles on mine. Things that went wrong: Compensator nut loose, no damage, Rocker covers weeped, no problem with that fix, cam tensioners changed at 85000 miles, still looked good, brakes and tires, been through alot of both. Front forks, had a leaky seal that took the dealership a few attempts to fix. Brake pads are an easy change. Oil/filter, tranny fluid and primary fluid once a year (I can handle that), Tires at Dealer or local indy. Keep looking for a new bike, but can't part with the one I have. Can honestly say the bike has served me well as a daily driver in good weather here on Long Island, NY. I do have the 95 CI jugs, K&N open air filter and Python 3 pipes with HD remap. Hope this helps. Chris

I have read threads from other hd forums that the 88 is a pretty good engine. I have had no problems with mine. trade in value is between 7-8k. Dealers have them listed around 10k.
