Default DAHHMMNNN No ride today!!

Well had the bike out in the drive warming up, I went into the garage and I hear the bike stop running, go out to check it and my Son is trying to lift it up off the driveway... he said "it just fell over" - he and his girlfriend were out there and I know he had nothing to do with it falling so no blame there - but what the hell happened with my aftermarket side stand? the vibration of the engine appears to have rolled it forward enough to drop off - must not have locked the stand in!! ARRGHH - look like the new forward controls will be accompanined with new levers and mirrors and grips and a paint job (at least a touch up on the front fender)

Primary cover and tool box got a little rash - hoping some 0000 steel wool will clean that up - DAMN Frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess you were lucky in your bad luck that nobody
got hurt. Let me guess. Good excuse to get those forward
controls now right.
Don't worry bro it just looks cosmetic and seems like an easy
fix thank god.

P.S. You're still the top dog around here my man.

Thanks Mike - you're right just cosmetic and I wasn't riding it and falling over - just a pisser. Looks like things will require updgrades/updates- was just a nice day and was looking forward to a ride but clutching was difficault (and probably dangerous).

Sorry to read about your mishap.
I would guess that your jiffy stand never fully locked in.
A few months back I had mine out in the street to take pictures, when it started to go down.
I was standing right next to it so it only went a few inches before I grabbed it. I think what might of happened was the jiffy stand was not in the full lock position and it finally engaged. The same thing happened in my garage. I started to walk away from the bike thinking the jiffy stand was fully locked into the slotted area, when it settled and leaned a bit further. What ever was the cause it scared the hell out of me. Now I really push the jiffy stand forward hard and shake the handle bars before I walk away from the bike.

Again, Thank goodness no one got hurt. 700 lbs on an unspecting person could have easily broken a leg or something....It sucks but I'm sure you'll get it back in shape...

Damn, that had to suck seeing the damage, and its such a nice looking bike too. Why does crap like thisalways seem to happen to the nice ones. Why nota two bit Yama-hama-ding-dong star slug or something.
Mine "nearly" did the same thing when I put it in the garage after riding once.
The bike was brand new and I was still learning about its unique personality.
Anyway I rode it into the garage next to an old dresser that I had stored in there. Shut it off, put the stand down. When Istarted to get off and let it down on the standI realized it wasn't stopping where it should have. I was trying to stop it from falling when the end of thehand grip smacked into the back of the dresser and started to knock it over like a domino. It was way too heavy to stop and I wound up riding the thing to theground trying to stop it. Not to bright an idea in hindsight, but I was still on it and couldn't get off or out from under it, so I didn't have much choice.
Between my trying, unsuccessfully, to stop it and thedresser cushioning its fall it actually never touched down, thank God. But it scared the crap out of me cause I thought it was less than a month old and it was going to get scratched up. Then I realized the "little" monster could have easily crushed my legif the dresser hadn't stopped its fall.
Ever since then I have made it a habit of "chocking" the stand with my foot and trying to drag it backwards a little to make DAMN sure its all the way forward and locked. I alsonever park it facing down hill.
Hope you can get it fixed up quickly without having to spend a ton of money doing it.
