Default Tank Lift Question

Seems to me that since I have my tank off I should do a 1.5 or 2 inch lift...
I'm wondering why I just couldn't do a home-made deal since it seems all I need is to firmly mount a piece of material under the tank, and add a longer crossover????

Any of you guys out there that have done a tank lift think I'm off track here????

I was thinking about a tank lift also for a couple reasons. I'm always nervous working on the engine afraid I'm going to hit the tank with a wrench, the extra 1-2" may help. And, I think the extra air circulation would help. not to mention that It would look cool. Problem is I think you would loose some range because only the front of the tank is raised hence the crossover would not be level with the bottom of the tank. Whadda ya think?

..to each his own, really don't care for thelook. Fatboys look great lowered/slammed and raising tank defeats all that. Kinda makes the tank/bike profile look like a Honda Shadow...but if you like it that's all that matters.

I personally don't care for the look either. Not with that style of tank. What about the gap between the tunnel and frame in the front? Is it covered?

On my Springer the gap is exposed a little. That rubber boot that covers it stays on the frame tubes. But unless you really stare at it you don't notice. Someone would have to spend time looking down behind the trees to realize its there.

Default Regards to making your own lift brackets

FinalCut I was wondering if you wound up just making your own brackets?; I have a 16th Street glide and have already made brackets. But when I was installing it I am unable to keep the 12 and 1/2 in chubby handlebars from touching the tank. I've read up a lot on the DK customs and it kind of sounds like I'm not the only one that's had issues on these newer bikes. Anyways I was reading the threads and was wondering if you could shed any light on it? I know you put your thread back in '07 or '08 dang that was a long time ago. LOL

Yes, FinalCut started this thread 14 YEARS ago. He hasn't been on the forum since 2013. Don't hold your breath for a response from him.

Sorry, can't help with your tank lift or handlebar issue.

You can always add a spacer and longer bolt to raise the lower end/level the tank.
