sorry my fat fingers forgot to type NOT. DYNO and REMAP is NOT bad it will def make your sled run at its max....it is not per-say necessary for new model bikes. Thanks Mustang125 for pointing that out. I dont want to relay bad info

From what I read in Ur OP.. U said Pipes but U only put on a SE A/F.. not the SE HF A/C..

So Ur just like all the other hundreds that have asked,, "Do I need a tuner If I only do pipes...

So to answer that,, NO Ur dont need a down load or tuner...

BUT,,, still U'll EPA lean

Now in Ur Second post in this thread.. U said..

i just want my bike to run as good as it can with minimizing heat in the pipes.

If U really want to have Ur bike to run as good as it can and minimize the head..

Then IMO U'll need to go ahead and go with a H/P - A/C and some Cams, then get a good F/M tuner and a good dyno.

Then U'll have what Ur wanting..

But, That will cost some Coin, $$$...

And in the end, believe me,, U'll love it.

The only problem from what I've heard with the download at the dealer is it is not specific to your scoot and you'll still run lean. Cheapest option I can think of is a fuel- pak! Lots of opinions on them both ways, however I have it installed and love it! I was like you and just wanted my bike running correctly! Good luck and thanks for your service!

used ied's on 3 of my bikes, ran fine...don't believe it's worth chasing a couple of HP. with a 250-600.00 dollar tuner, that's just me..BTW I"ve never heard of ANYONE melting down a Harley by putting a stage one on and no enrichment done to it.

Intalled FL XiEDs on my Slim late last week, along with an SS Stealth air cleaner. Couldn't be happier.

Rode two up with my gal this weekend, and before the XiEDs I could detect a slight slow down with a passenger, even though she's only a 125 or so.

With em, it was like she wasn't even back there. Rode to work today, and 6th gear was a freggin dream. The bike was a lil bored because it was doing 80 with no sweat.

Bike is idling between 970 and 1020. And running cooler.

Neither have I, not acutely anyway, but I wonder about long term excessive engine wear from a chronic lean condition such as the one Kevin from DK experienced on his bike. Nice to hear the good news about the XiEDs. I had a similar thread going the last few days, asking about a 2011 FXDWG with pipes and AC, and my dealer said no remapping was needed for typical street use. But, having had the unpleasant experience of melting (aluminum) pistons on some racing outboards a few years ago, I thought I'd get some opinions from the Forum members.

Apparently the stage I download recognizes the increased airflow from the hardware mods, and increases the amount of fuel delivered to the cylinders. Problem is, to comply with emission standards, the AFR remains a lean 14.6. The consensus of the Forum is that a richer mixture will make the bikes run smoother and cooler, with more throttle response. I've ordered a set of XiEDs and plan to install them ASAP. I'll save the SERT and dyno for the Stage II mods.

Being new to the "modern" bikes, I've read so many conflicting stories...

Slip ons don't require anything extra, like better AC, tuner and remap AND I've read they DO need it all.
Full pipes do require AC, tuner and remap. And for all I know...nothing...a tuner and remap could be the same thing.

Either way, all of this "they do, they don't" crap and mostly the money involved, has made me decide to just keep my stock pipes and say to hell with it all.

Yep because a dealer...whether it's a HD or pipes...will say slip ons need it all. And if I'm going to go the whole AC/tuner route, I might as well get full pipes. But then, who's going to pay for it?
