Progressive Monotube question...

I installed the Monotubes in my 02 Fatboy a year ago. No, you don't need any special tools. Yes, you need to disassemble your front end. The kit includes 4 plastic horseshoe shaped spacers. You'll need to make the decision whether to install all 4 spacers, only 2 spacers, or none at all. I initially installed 2 spacers but later removed them.
There are a couple of tricks. I assume you have a Jack.
-Remove your front wheel assembly, brake and fender.
-While the fork tubes are still mounted on the bike, loosen the bolts at the bottom of the forks which holds the internal "Damper Tubes". It's much easier to back these bolts out while spring pressure is still on the Damper Tube.
-Loosen the pinch bolts, lower the fork tubes a few inches, then re-tighten the pinch bolts. Remove the plugs that holds the fork springs. This plug is under a lot of pressure. The top of your Triple Trees will prevent it from becoming a deadly projectile.
Now remove both fork tubes and do the rest of the work on the bench.
