Its sorta warming up this week (to 49 on saturday) and while not quite riding weather we are getting close.
I want to buy a new leather jacket since my sport bike jacket doesn't quite look right on a Harley and unfortunately I'm to fat for the Lil Joe's jacket I bought off a member here.
I'm thinking of ordering another lil Joes jacket but not sure if and when it'll arrive. Plus they are pricey, but worth it just from looking at the one I have now and can subsidize the cost of the new one by selling the old one.
I'm looking for suggestions on brands that make a quality product using fairly heavy weight leather, that in the case of an off will be usable more than once. I know the good and bad of sport bike stuff but not the harley stuff so please help.
Looking for some brands to avoid and ones to look at. So far I've seen River Road and Milwaukee Leather. Definitely don't want anything harley sells with their name on it. So any suggestions?
Vanson. I have a Vanson ProPerf and like it alot for a summer leather jacket. They are of the highest quality and made in the USA if that matters to you.
Motown, thanks for that tip on Brooks. I like the 511, does it have side pockets or just the chest pockets? Cool thing is my favorite parts dealer, Boomers, is a dealer and he is both just down the street and I have a $250 store credit. I guess I'll stop by tomorrow and take a look at what he's got on the racks.
Shott NYC makes awesome jackets from heavy weight full grain leather. Union made in the USA if that's important to you.
They are pricey, but you get what you pay for. When I laid my bike down last fall insurance bought me a new one, but the one I was wearing only had a hole the size of a quarter in it, so I got it repaired and am still wearing it. In 40 years or so when I finally wear it out I'll have a new one ready to go.
