hey guys n gals, im getting hitched and planning a honeymoon, first thing the wife to be said was "wanna ride a harley somewhere?"... shes a keeper. Im from Boston and im thinking of flying into LA for couple days, then picking up harley and heading up coast for san franciso, possibly hit up napa valley. Im very bad at figuring how long this is going to take, anybody have experience, ive only got about a week to do this, so if this is too much all reccomendations are appreciated

Congratulations on your upcoming honeymoon.

The coast ride from LA to San Francisco is really nice. One can very comfortably do that ride in two days each way. Stay on Highway 1 as much as possible. I would spend the night midway in the Cambria/San Luis Obispo/Morrow Bay area. There is everything from Motel 6 to Bed and Breakfast lodging available.

What month are you planning your nuptuals? This matters because the Central Coast of California can be cloudy and overcast in June and July.

Share some details of your plans, we can help you plan a ride.

thanks for writing me back and for the advice. Im planning on it being last weekend in august to beginning of september, during labor day weekend. Im glad you mentioned highway 1, cause from my computer im drooling over it, im glad it is a nice ride. My overall plan is to spend two days in LA doing touristy stuff. then pick up a bike and head for san fran. im guessing on highway 1 the trip will take two good days of riding, with a sleep stop in between. How long do you think i "need" for the big cities to "see" them.

thanks again

The Central Coast is my neck of the woods my man. Take Hwy 1 from LA all the way to SF, very nice views all the way up. You can stop in Big Sur, then Carmel and say high to Clint Eastwood, head over to Monterey, then shoot to Santa Cruz to the boardwalk, it's all on the way. Hwy 1 is the route to take by car of bike if you have the time. Perfect time of year as well (Aug.-Oct.).

This is very true. I'd drop that second day in LA. The only thing good about LA is the Dodgers. Besides that go have a quick look at Beverly Hills, Hollywood then hit the road.
