WTF! Why does HD use those damn TQ screws for? Cuz they dont want us to mod??? Damn, in the garage this aft putting on more bling...then once again those dam TQ screws, this time the derby cover. No way am I stripping them....I didnt mind stripping one on the struts before, because it was an easy tap to draw out. But the derby cover are small bits. Anyways good thing I am taking my bike in for full service soon...they can deal with it.
And yes I even tried to used a heat gun to warm up the locktite.
HD can stick the TQ screws up their donkey.
End of rant:P
Btw I finally got around and finished up the diamond black series for bling
I hate the TQ heads too. My bike has those and allen. Lucky for me though I have both a jap bike and my HD. Plus I've owned American, Euro, and Jap cars/trucks over my many years so I have been building standard and metric tool sets for years.

But I still hate those TQ bolts!
Socket-head fasteners of various kinds can work quite well, if the metal quality is good. Unfortunately, Harley's fasteners don't seem to be as good as those in a basic automotive brake rebuild kit. Never had a problem with those torx bolts.
Maybe I'm just lucky but I've never had a problem with them on our two 08s. Do all my own service and mods.
Most important thing is to make sure you're using the right size bit. Unless I'm positive what size to use I always trial fit until I have the largest bit that will fit.
Second most important thing is to make sure that the bit is fully seated in the slot.
An impact wrench can help break bolts and screws that seem to be seized. I've only had to use one once when I was removing a rear fender rail.
I have two issues with the Torx bolts: the socket isn't deep enough so the chance of rocking out of the bolt is great, especially in tight quarters, and the fit of the spline is too loose, complicating the first thing. Other than that, they just SUCK.
