Default which cams for Breakout

Hey guys just wanting some suggestions on which cams i should go with andrews, woods or tman? From what I've been told the TMan cams are not as noisey as the other 2, I already have a SERT, SE Heavy Breather kit and am awaiting my V/H 2 into 2 now. I will be putting the breather and exhaust on just before i take it up for the first service and then i will have the cams installed then and dyno tuned as well.

Bump for same info!

I am going to cam my breakout this winter, looking for advice as well.

Thinking I want something with strong low end/mid power but really not sure.

Additional burnout power for that fat tire?

I had my indy install an Andrews 57H in my 2012 Heritage over the winter (along with the usual engine upgrades: tuner, pipes, and air cleaner). Andrews designed this cam specifically for the 103 engine and it dramatically improves the performance across the board, particularly low and mid. As far as increased noise goes, the exhaust sound is louder and not just because of the pipes because I had the new pipes on with the original cam for awhile before the 57H was installed. I don't notice any additional mechanical sounds that weren't there before. I would strongly recommend having your lifters changed at the same time the cams are installed because the rollers on the ones HD has been installing for the last couple years are wearing poorly. And the needle bearings that support the cams are also a good idea to replace. They're relatively inexpensive and again, HD has cheapened the ones that are now stock.

Just a couple questions for you..

1. What lifters did you go with?
2. How did the 57h cams affect the lope of the engine?
3. Dyno numbers can really only tell you so much, and are used more for bragging rights, in a sense. How did the 'butt dyno' feel? Noticeable difference in torque off the line?

Thanks!

We do all the different brands here, S&S, Andrews, Crane, V-thunder & Fueling. Just went through the selection process with a recent customer and we choose the Fueling Reaper 525. The RPM power range is 1750-5500. Customers riding is a lot of 2 up in the mountains of western North Carolina and he loves what they did. We haven't been able to get a set on our Dyno yet though. Fueling also says you can use the factory valve springs, pushrods and lifters with this set. We can help with choosing which ones to go with by sharing the number comparisons between them all and what you plan to do with the motor in the future.

I have fueling reaper 594s in my motor. I like them a lot. Runs good on the top end.

Unfortunately, I still have the stock lifters in there and will have to get them changed out at some point. My friend has a 2012 Roadglide and had the same work done right after me. His bike had 15K miles on it and already the rollers were showing patches of surface erosion. My bike only had 1500 miles on it so the rollers still looked good. We did some digging and found that other 103's with some miles on them are experiencing the same thing. I haven't done the research to know what to replace them with but I think there are several good options and a good set should run maybe a couple hundred with no additional labor if they're installed with the cams.

Definitely more lope than stock, but not as extreme as some I've heard.

I never pull strong off the line, but I do roll on strong from 2nd through 5th. It is way, way better than stock. 6th gear is so high on these bikes that you need to be going 65mph or more to roll on strong in 6th -- even with the cams, etc. My bike dyno results stock: 64hp 86 torque after: 82hp 98 torque. I have American Custom exhausts which are reworked stock mufflers with the cats removed and removable baffles installed. A 2 into 1 like V&H Propipe or Supertrapp Supermeg will give a bit more power and probably sound a bit better too. I've had no other performance work done -- no head work, etc.. Hope this helps.

I put the SE 211 cams in my 2015 Breakout. Great throttle response, torque and sound.

I installed Andrews 48 along with S&S premium lifters and am very pleased with them on my 2015 Breakout. No noise either.
