Working on getting my Shotgun compressor put in. I have a 2005 FXSTI with the CA carbon canister. The canister came out easy but I didn't realize there was a mounting bracket that was bolted in, holding the canister. So it looks like the mount was bolted on and the head of the bolt cut so it couldn't be removed. See pic below:
How do I remove this thing? I tried heating it up in case there was red loctite. The bolt it almost stripped from using a vice on it. Any suggestions?

I am having the same porblem, because apparently I have a CA model Heritage that was bought on the east coast. I was working on the install last night and ran into this, so I plan on calling JD today. Post up what you find out and I will do the same.
Thanks
I emailed JD last night and got a reply back stating I would get detailed instructions today. Not sure if I want to bolt my old shocks back up and ride it to a shop to have the bolts extracted. Hopefully there's an easier way.

I think I'm going to pick up a Mapp torch and some bolt extractors. I want to be able to ride by tonight. Let me know if you come up with anything.

I don't think it would. Pretty much for just capturing the fuel vapors. I could be wrong though.
slow5- He said something about a different bracket for the CA models. Maybe it connects to the bracket that is already there that is bolted from the top of trans.
The vent / overflow tube on the fuel tank is plumbed to this charcoal evaporator canister. From the Evap Canister is another hose line routing to the intake. If you remove this canister, plug the hose to the intake or you will have unfiltered air introduced into the manifold. Removing this canister and plugging the hose will not affect the MAP sensor on your year model
Shotgun shocks emailed me. They said the kit should come with 2 nuts to attach to 2 bolts that come out of the transmission case. I'm pretty confused. I'll try and Dremel the canister mount off then file down the bolt so I can use a bolt extractor
