Citoriplus, you are a friggin genious. I'm going out to the shop and cutting the stainless flatbar tonight. Too dang simple. I had forgot all about the flat bar supports we used to have when trucks were trucks. Now if Ford would just start using the old chains again...?
You obviously haven't taked to my wife. But I'm glad you like the idea. Sometimes the simple ones are the best.
The military hasthe KISS principal, Keep It Simple Stupid. Something we all need to remember more often.
Just wish the engineers who work for the car and bike makers would do it more often.
Funny you mentioning the chains, I though the same thing when the cables broke. At least with them you could easily see when they were getting worn out. Steel cables are a pain in the butt because they can be fine or dangerous as hell without showing it on the outside.
your bike want go all the way in so you could close tailgate? make sure to strap it down good so it will stay in place, and try not to drive like cowboy lol , so it does not move around on you. GOOD LUCK , and have fun at bike week, if you never been it's a blast. you hear harley's all night going up the main drag, nice sound, don't let momma know if you stop at Sharkey's, or some of the MANY place's that have girl's dancing , that's so naughty!!! LOL
Don't know how big of a box you have but my 04 F150 SB will hold my deluxe if angled. The rear tire centers on the gap between the bed and the tailgate. Have carried it this way several times without problems.. I also have a toolbox in there..Good luck....
